On January 21st, 2024, the concert Sacred Soundscapes: Musical Traditions from the Ottoman Empire was performed as part of Dr. Hadar Feldman Samet’s research (Mandel Fellow between 2020-2022) in cooperation with the Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies, University of Pennsylvania.
The topic of the concert was the impact of the joint lives of Jews, Muslims, and Christians under the Ottoman Empire on the traditional music at different points throughout the empire.
Dr. Feldman Samet performed the concert alongside Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol (from the award-winning DÜNYA Ensemble), Bertram Lehmann, Burcu Güleç, George Lernis, and Beth Bahia Cohen.
