The Mandel Scholion Year in Review for 2021 is now available on our wesite. Year in Review 2021 introduces the research and public activities of 2021-2021, as well as the Center's focus for the coming year.


Mandel Scholion’s 2023-2026 Research Group

We are happy to introduce the research group for the years 2023-2026, “Passivities: Modes of Feeling, Modes of Knowing,” led by Prof. Ruben Borg, Prof. Raz Chen-Morris, Dr. Lola Kantor-Kazovsky and Dr. Gur Zak. The group seeks to reexamine the notion of passivity from two angles, one historical, focusing on early modern Europe as a transitional phase; and the other, critical and philosophical, examining the notion of passivity from a phenomenological point of view.

An article by the late Prof. Ronnie Ellenblum together with Tal Ulus appeared in Nature. The work on the paper, entitled “How long and how strong must a climatic anomaly be in order to evoke a social transformation?” began during the tenure of the research groups “Archaeologies of Memory” (2010-2013) and “Materials for Change” (2016-2019) at Mandel Scholion.
