Chanan Ariel is a PhD candidate at the department of Hebrew Language and member of the Research Group on the Emergence of Modern Hebrew at the Mandel Scholion Interdisciplinary Research Center in the Humanities and Jewish Studies, the Hebrew

University of Jerusalem. Prior to his doctoral studies he worked in the Historical Dictionary Project of the Academy of the Hebrew Language. His dissertation focuses on the language of Maimonides (syntax and vocabulary).
