Prof. Maya Benish-Weisman is an Associate Professor at The Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She received her Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was a postdoctoral fellow in the Psychology Department at the City University of New York Graduate Center. She began her academic career as a Senior Lecturer in the University of Haifa's Counseling and Human Development Department and head of the Educational Counseling program, before moving to HUJI. Prof. Benish-Weisman has been awarded multiple research grants from competitive grant foundations, including the European Research Council (ERC) consolidator grant, the U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation (BSF), the Israel Science Foundation (ISF), the National Institute for Psychobiology in Israel, and the Jacobs Foundation. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in leading journals and is the editor of the European Journal of Personality Counseling. Her research focuses on values and social behavior among adolescents, the relationship between values trajectories and youth adjustment, and the psychological effect of immigration, especially on ethnic identity.
