Reut Avitan is a research student in the Bible Department at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a member of Mandel Scholion Research Center's group: "Past and Past Perfect". Reut received a BA degree in Bible and Jewish Studies and a MA in Bible Studies, a graduate of the "Revivim" program at the Hebrew University. Her MA dissertation examined the affinity between the law of precedence in Deuteronomy 21:17-25 and the role of precedence in the Jacob traditions in the Book of Genesis. Her PhD. dissertation, advised by Prof. Nili Wazana, examines the narrative polemic between the Northern Kingdom (Israel) and the Southern Kingdom (Judah) in the context of the birthright, monarchy and messianism. Reut has served as a teaching assistant in the course "Introduction to the Hebrew Bible", and she is currently teaching the course "Bibliographical Guidance" which introduces the prominent tools for Bible research and for the acquisition of basic research skills
