Rachel Rosenbaum-Lederman is a doctoral candidate at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her BA is in Jewish Philosophy and Psychology, and her MA is in Jewish Philosophy, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her doctoral dissertation project, supervised by Dr. Avishai Bar-Asher, focuses on the gradual consolidation of the Zoharic corpus through close examination of a textual group titled ‘Sitrei Torah’. Her research follows the many changes made to the content and placement of the ‘Sitrei Torah’ texts within the Zohar, throughout the transition from manuscripts to the printed editions. Additionally, these texts are compared to the writings of early Kabbalists and re-traced later in commentaries on the Zohar, in order to better understand the origin of these texts and the extent of their distribution. Rachel’s work expands to broader questions regarding this enigmatic fragmentary literature, and traces the influence of the first prints on the content and status of the highly regarded ‘Book of the Zohar’.
