Stav Lavon is a doctoral student in the Department of Art History, and was a President's Stipend recipient at the Mandel School for Advanced Studies in the Humanities before joining the Mandel Scholion Center as a PhD member of the “Passivities” Research Group. She holds a BA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Art History and Archaeology, and an MA in Art History.
In her MA thesis, she analyzes the crossing vault decoration found in the lower church of the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi. Her current research, which is written under the supervision of Dr. Lola Kantor-Kazovsky, delves into the visual expression of the allegorical flourishing in 14th-century Italy and analyses its rhetorical role within the cultural, intellectual, and physical realms it inhabits. Through her work, she aims to contribute to the broader understanding of late medieval Italian art and allegory as a visual device. She is particularly intrigued by the interplay between the artist, the artwork, and the viewer.
